Blog2 Feeling about the present state of health care in the us

The healthcare in the US is terrible. Why do I say that? In order for a person to get quality care they must practically give up there first born child. When arrive at a doctor office you wait any where from 30 minutes to and hour to get seen. When you finally get to see the doctor they kind of rush you out because they have dealt with so many other patient that they are just tried. When people have Medicaid or any type of government funding and go to a clinic or hospital they are treated very different from people with private insurance. The people with government funding are usually waiting for hours at a time to see the doctor, the facilities are very crowded, the staff is rude, the doctor is pressed for time, and the people don't seem to get the care they deserve. On the other hand, the private insurance patient have shorter wait time, the doctor are more relaxed due to lighter patient load, the patient feel appreciated, the staff are more friendly. The private patient of course pay more for their visit than government funding individuals.

  2. Health care in America is two-sided depending on what type of insurance that one has. I notice that now that President Obama passed the health care bill, some states like Texas are working very hard to make sure that insurance companies and physicians get the most out of the deal. Patients have a Bill of Rights that most physicians and hospitals must abide by but the first right should be to affordable health care. Some Physicians are now requiring you to pay a fee to continue to have them as your primary care physician as well as paying for co-pays. My personal experience is as an example. I have a PPO insurance that cost me 500 dollars a month totaling 6000 a year. I have to pay an extra 1500 hundred dollars to keep my physician that I have seen for years and this just occurred this year. My co-pays are not the usual 30 to 35 dollars but have increased to 400 dollars or more depending on what I am seeing the doctor for. I do not see how this is possible but it is happening. What I can say positive about my healthcare is that I do not have to wait. That is quite true about the visits to one’s physician that has a PPO insurance that allows you choose your own physician. I do not believe that it is a good idea to let anyone wait too long when needing medical care but it does happen.

  3. I have worked in the medical field for over 20 years and there is no easy answer. I have seen so many working uninsured come through the ER, just needed basic care. But due to the inability to obtain any kind of insurance from thier employers and unable to afford to pay out of pocket, they must resort to ER for care. This is in turn raises costs at the hospital, because of unpaid medical bills, and raises the cost for all for medical coverage. But everyone needs medical care, so that have to see someone, and get some care. I dont know if
what the answer is, but something needs to change.
