BLOG 4 Prental Care

Prental care should be routine when a woman become pregnant. The woman is carrying another human being and so a regular check-up to make sure the baby is safe. The woman history needs to be checked to see if there is any potential problems that could be caught early. When I was pregnant with my second child everything was ok until toward the end of my pregnancy. My son didn't move for like two hours and I became very nervous because he was a very actived baby. I knew he was very actived and what to expect because I regular prental care. I ended up going to the hospital and being attending because he was under a lot of stress because I was stressed. My son ended up being born healthy with a C-section.
The insurance companies should be required to put maternity care on all women health plans. A woman can get pregnant at any given time and with the insurance no prental care care is given. I think it is easier for the insurance to pay for prental care to get a healthy child, then trying to pay for a sick child forever. When women don't get prental care for their babies during pregnancy they are risking the chance for healthy or not healthy baby. Sometime all the prental care can help the baby because their is already something the parents genies that the baby will be propone to have.

Blog#3 Sex Education in Public School

Sex Education is a huge topic when it come to adolescence. I think that sex education should be taught in public school as early as 5th grade. While a child is in the 5th grade the discussion should be focused on more about how their bodies are changing and abstinence. I think that should continue to be a big focus until about 7th grade. Once the child get to the 7th grade bodies are lot mature and they are really curious by now. In teaching sex education to a 7th grade and beyond the focus should be on abstinence but as adult we know that everyone will not practice abstinence. The education should be about showing children ways to talk to their parent to let them know that they are having sex or are thinking about. In order for the child to get comfortable to do that there should be a lot of scenario done in order for the child to practice. The next thing that should be talked about is the consequences of having sex. The students should go on field trip to seminar where people with STD are speaking out. They should be showed very graphic picture of what the disease look like if caught. They also need to see the medication to see how many pills need to be taken and the cost of the medication and the side effect that may have. The next thing is proper use of a birth control device. There should be a sex educator come and pick to the student in a professional manner and tell the properly way to use it device. The student should also be showed how teen pregnancy could ruin their future. They should be show things like being pregnant, to delivery, to getting up in the middle of the night, having to go to government appointment to get assistance to take care of their child such as WIC, food stamp, TANF, medicaid, housing. Then also showing how teen pregnant can affect their credit score by being on child support and no job. The credit score will be brought down to the point that when that person is older that will have a hard time getting anything.

Blog2 Feeling about the present state of health care in the us

The healthcare in the US is terrible. Why do I say that? In order for a person to get quality care they must practically give up there first born child. When arrive at a doctor office you wait any where from 30 minutes to and hour to get seen. When you finally get to see the doctor they kind of rush you out because they have dealt with so many other patient that they are just tried. When people have Medicaid or any type of government funding and go to a clinic or hospital they are treated very different from people with private insurance. The people with government funding are usually waiting for hours at a time to see the doctor, the facilities are very crowded, the staff is rude, the doctor is pressed for time, and the people don't seem to get the care they deserve. On the other hand, the private insurance patient have shorter wait time, the doctor are more relaxed due to lighter patient load, the patient feel appreciated, the staff are more friendly. The private patient of course pay more for their visit than government funding individuals.

Health Concerns

African American women have 35% chance of dying from heart disease according to Black Women's Health Imperative. African American women are not taking car of themselves as they should. They are mostly taking care of their families and let their own health take the back burner. The poor decision making on food choices is just one reason why African American women are dying from heart disease. They are cooking things like chitterlings, oxtails, and hot water corn bread. These foods are high in fat and cholesterol. The fact that they don't get regular exercise. The today is much to short for most because of working, school, being a mother, and a wife takes all their time. Then the problem is heredity. Some women believe that just because the generation before had heart disease that there chances are slim to none to get it also.
An Hispanic women was asked about health issue she was concern about. She answered kidney disease. Both her mother and father are on dialysis due to kidney failure. She was very worried about her own kidney and those of her three daughter. She stated that she tries to get regular check-up for herself and her daughter but it is difficult because she is trying to take care of her parents. She was very emotional because she didn't know what she would do if she had to be on dialysis because there is no one there for her kids.
The health concern that bother me is cancer. My grandmother died from cervical cancer, and I have an aunt who was battling breast cancer and won. I try to get regular check-up and monitor any changes in my own body. I know that some problems are just heredity but if caught in the beginning a better outcome will  probably happened.
